Amaechi's Ministerial Screening: APC Senators Betrayed Us

The controversy over the screening of Rotimi Amaechi deepened yesterday, October 22, as the exercise left senators belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party alleging betrayal.
The Punch reports that the PDP senators alleged that senators belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) betrayed the agreement they had not to screen the former governor of Rivers state given the report of the panel that investigated the petitions against him.
Before the plenary began, the Senate had met in closed-door session when Sam Anyanwu, chairman of the ethics, privileges and public petitions committee, laid the report of his committee regarding the nomination of Amaechi on the mace table.
A PDP senator who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “During the closed session, chairman of the ethics committee, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, briefed us on the report and indicated that the committee reported that the issue regarding Amaechi’s petition was in court and that the Senate should suspend action on his screening, pending the resolution of the court issues.”
It was gathered that the APC senators had pleaded with their colleagues in the PDP during the closed session to allow Amaechi to be screened while the debate of the report of the ethics committee continued.
The PDP senators were also said to have agreed to the suspension of the debate on the report of the ethics committee only if their APC colleagues would also ask the Rivers nominee to take a bow and go so as not to “cause controversy.”
Another senator alleged that all the senators at the closed session reached an agreement that those belonging to the PDP would insist on not having anything to do with Amaechi, while their APC colleagues also agreed that they would only ask the nominee to only “take a bow and go.”
The senator said they were surprised when the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and the other APC senators did not keep to the agreement and started asking Amaechi questions.
At the screening, the opposition senators refused to partake in the quizzing of Amaechi, as they felt betrayed.
Godswill Akpabio, the minority leader explained that his members would not participate in the screening of Amaechi until the outcome of his court case.
He said: “My point of order is under Order 43. The PDP senators seated here will not have any question for the nominee because we have just received the report of the ethics committee bordering on corruption and all sorts of things from the Senator Anyanwu committee and we have not debated that report at all. So, we have little or nothing to ask the nominee.”
After speaking, he asked his PDP colleagues whether he had spoken their minds and they responded in the affirmative.
However, the PDP senators have threatened to oppose Amaechi’s confirmation when the time comes.
After Amaechi’s screening, . They kept chanting his name in excitement.
over his ministerial screening. Some are disappointed with the way the PDP senators went dumb and didn’t ask any questions while others have  who said he has never received bribe in his life.
The  for the excellent way he acquitted himself when he finally appeared before the upper chamber for screening as a ministerial nominee.

Suicide Bomber Attacks Maiduguri Mosque

A suicide bomber supposed to be a member of the deadly Boko Haram sect has attacked a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno state.
The onslaught occurred early today, October 23, as Muslims gather at a mosque to observe morning prayers in the old GRA area in the troubled city.

According to Sahara Reporters a yet to be determined number of Muslim worshippers have been killed.
The explosion was carried out by a suspected lone suicide bomber, whose two accomplices escaped, when some vigilant members of the community accosted them on their suspicious movements.
Premium Times reports that two explosions, according to residents happened in Jiddari Polo area at about 5am when Muslims were performing the first congregational prayer of Friday.

A Northerner Must Emerge In 2015 Or Nigeria Will Divide

Lawal Kaita, the close ally of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who famously promised in October 2010 that the North would make Nigeria ungovernable for President Jonathan if he won the 2011 election is again spitting fire.

This time around he is insisting that a Northerner must emerge by 2015 or there would be no Nigeria.

Kaita said “We hear rumours all over that Jonathan is planning to contest in 2015.
Well, the north is going to be prepared if the country remains one.

That is, if the country remains one, we are going to fight for it. If not, everybody can go his way,” he said in an interview in Katsina. Lawal Kaita said the recent stand of the party on consensus was a total negation of the motive behind forming the party.

It may be recalled that Alhaji Lawal Kaita had said in October 2010 that "The North is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power on the platform of the PDP against the principle of the party’s zoning policy".

Kaita, founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and close ally of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, had at that time warned that the North should not be blamed for the calamity that will befall the country, if Jonathan emerges President.

Now, if Nigerians had thought that Kaita was joking, his own principal, former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, had come out openly on the 14th of December 2010 to say " Let me again send another message to the leadership of our great country, especially the political leadership that those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent change inevitable.”

Kaita, who described the emergence of the Bamanga Tukur-led NWC of the party as a grand ploy by President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2015 presidential race, said the north would ensure he never succeeds.

He stated: “It is a disgrace that a party like PDP is running away from election. I am one of the G18 members who founded the PDP and we formed the party because of our firm belief in election. I have contested election five or six times. We believed in election, but now the whole thing has collapsed”.

“They are running away from election. This entire consensus thing doesn’t make sense.
For us who formed the PDP, we regret what is happening now. Ten candidates, overnight, all stepping down for one person! All the candidates were renowned and each of them is capable of running the party, but they all withdrew…”

Kaita, who was a governor of the old Kaduna State, insisted that the just concluded national convention of the PDP was devoid of excitement, noting: “Tukur is a highly qualified person but the fact that he allowed himself to be used as Jonathan’s candidate is what has lowered his status.”

George W. Bush Apologizes For Iraq War

Former U.S. President George W. Bush apologized for the Iraq War today, saying the conflict was "his biggest mistake."

In a statement released to a Texas newspaper, the 66-year-old Bush said he meant well when he sent America to war but asked the American people to forgive what in retrospect was "a clear example of poor judgement."

The admission comes on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq War, which began in 2003 and ended in 2011 with more than 36,000 American casualties and estimates of more than 100,000 civilian deaths.

"After the events of September the 11th, I focused all my energy on protecting America from the next attack," the statement reads. "Regrettably in our zeal to defend America, my administration exaggerated threats which - although real - did not constitute a clear and present danger to the United States.

"After my presidency I have come to the belief that the Iraq War, although well intentioned, was unnecessary and too costly to justify. I deeply apologize to the American people and to our soldiers and veterans in particular for engaging them in such a conflict.

"I may have made a mistake - but I think all Americans know that I pride myself on being able to admit my failures."

Shock and Awe
Bush also used his statement to address some of the lingering controversies surrounding the war, and showed remarkable honesty and contrition.

"In the run up to the war," he continued, "my administration made claims that turned out not to be factual. Personally, I truly believed that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. But when we couldn't find the evidence, we fabricated it.

"It was wrong to misoverexaggerate the nature of the threat. And although men like D. Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz and Douglas Feith were the most directly involved, ultimately I was the man at the top and I accept full responsibility.

"Additionally, once we went to war we should have gone in with a detailed plan. I thought it was more important to topple Saddam Hussein quickly than to prepare for the post-occupation. Clearly I was wrong, and I am sorry.

"The entire war was the biggest mistake of my life. I have asked my God for his forgiveness, and now I ask the American people. I hope history records that I was a good person, just trying to do the right thing."

In response to Bush's statement, former Vice President D. Cheney gave an interview to NewsMax in which he labeled Bush's apology "childish" and defended his actions during the war.

"I still believe that the world is a better place without the tyranny of Saddam Hussein," Cheney said. "It's a shame this cowardly deadender no longer agrees and has joined the Cindy Sheehan wing of the Republican Party."

Earlier this month, the Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) announced that thefts of crude oil threatens to outdo
2009 which was the worst year at the height of the insurgency by militants in the Niger Delta.

due to circumstances beyond their control.

“The situation in the last few weeks is unprecedented,” Shell Nigeria’s Managing Director Mutiu Sunmonu had said.

Recently Shell reportedly released these footage of illegal oil refinery business in real-time and the pictures were from a site in oil rich Bayelsa State where President Goodluck Jonathan is from.

Rick Ross Admits To Drugging And Molesting A Woman

This is the most irritating news i've ever heard today.

In the latest Molly popping lyrical fail by a rapper, Rick Ross brags on Future Rocko’s song called “U.O.E.N.O.” (you ain’t even know it) about drugging women’s drinks “and they don’t even know it.”

“Put molly all in her champagne, she ain't even know it,” he raps. “I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain't even know it.”

The timing of this lyric couldn’t be worse as women in Delhi fight to protect their womanhood from molestation and young boys in America are being sent to jail because they think it’s ok to Be Intimate with women who are too drunk or high to give consent.

No. No. No. This is not cool, swag or “bawse.” I don’t care how many womanly assaults a drugged-out actress asks for on Twitter, it is not acceptable to preach the practice of drugging women to Be Intimate with them “without them even knowing.” If she didn’t know she didn’t give consent. And if she didn’t give consent she was Molested. You’re out here telling your fans that it’s cool To Molest women and YOU don’t even know it.

Ross’ lyrics are reprehensible on so many levels but as a man you have to ask yourself: What kind of sex am I having where I don’t want the woman to remember?

Why We Choose To Wed In Dubai. 2face Speaks

Few Hours back, We Posted something about Nigerians venting because 2Face had his wedding in Dubai instead of Naija, promised never to Patronise his Music anymore. This was the Broadcast spreading on the BBM:"We follow buy ur Cds Ooo, now u come carry ur wedding go Dubai where we no go fit chop Ur Rice.
♓☺w many Arab don carry wedding come 9ja. Well sha if u sing ur next song make u ready go sell am 4 Dubai" .

This broadcast went wide and even celebrities received this on their blackberries. Here is what 2face said: "I think there is this spiritual connection. We thought of a perfect place for the white wedding and the idea of Dubai came up. I don’t know about crowd control. We just want to have the best of the moment and make sure things go rightly. There is nothing more to it. It does not have to do with controlling the people or anything.

The fact is that you can’t run away from the people. Anywhere you go, you will meet people and these people have come to celebrate with us. Let’s just say that we love Dubai and we also discovered that it was a perfect venue for us. " 2face Idibia told Glitz in a recent interview.

To me I think there is nothing wrong choosing a venue were u feel is ok and 2face has stepped on toes which makes it understanding and a good reason to be away from Nigeria not to spark up some heat cos according to sources, his baby mama's were absent. I think 2face knows how to give respect to whom respect is due. What do u think?

OMG: Madonna Kisses CNN Presenter On LIVE Stage

Think Britney Spears is jealous?

Madonna and Anderson Cooper embraced in a a big smooch as she presented the CNN newsman and talk show host with an honor at the New York edition of the GLAAD Media Awards at the Marriott Marquis. Cooper was the recipient of this year's Vito Russo Award, which goes to an openly gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality.

Cooper spoke publicly about his sexuality for the first time last year with an email to journalist Andrew Sullivan. "The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn't be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud," he wrote.

The Material Girl, who memorably kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera during a performance at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, also left people buzzing about her outfit. She was decked out in a full Boy Scout's uniform — her version of it anyway, featuring special touches like fingerless gloves and a cowboy hat — to protest the organization's ban on gay scouts and scout leaders.

"I wanted to be a Boy Scout, but they wouldn't let me join," she told the crowd. "I think that's [messed] up. I can build a fire. I know how to pitch a tent. I have a very good sense of direction. I can rescue kittens from trees. Listen, I wanna do for the community."

During his acceptance speech, Cooper thanked his boyfriend since 2009, Benjamin Maisani.

"[Being gay] has allowed me to love and be loved, to open my head and open my heart in ways I would have never predicted," he noted. "The ability to love one another, the ability to love another person is in my opinion one of God's greatest gifts and I thank God every day for the ability to give and share love with the people in my life. My family, my friends, my partner Benjamin, thank you very much."
